Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety (ADIS)

Run by TIMS since 2001, ADIS prepares engineers and science graduates for statutory safety-officer roles in chemical, pharma and process plants and also in all kinds of Construction and infrastructure sectors within India and Abroad

Overview

Section 40(b) of the Factories Act 1948, Regulation 93 of the Dock Workers (Safety, Health & Welfare) Regulations 1990 and Section 38 of the Building & Other Construction Workers Act 1996 make the appointment of a qualified Safety Officer mandatory, and the Directorate of Industrial Safety & Health lists the MAH units around Vasai, Tarapur and Talasari where this applies. ADIS produces those officers locally: graduates are eligible to be appointed Safety Officer in manufacturing, service and construction industries.

MSBTE subject codes in brackets. Examinations are conducted by MSBTE, Mumbai, which awards the diploma.

Eligibility

Science graduate (including Medical, BDS, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy or Veterinary Science), or a Degree/Diploma in Engineering or Technology from a recognised university or board; or an MSBTE Advanced/Post Diploma in Fire Safety, Fire Engineering or Industrial Safety & Security Management.

Admission

Obtain the prospectus and application form from the TMA office (or by post with a self-addressed stamped envelope and demand draft in favour of Tarapur Management Association, payable at Boisar). Submit the completed form with attested copies of certificates by 30 June. Candidates with qualifications from outside Maharashtra are admitted subject to MSBTE eligibility rules.

Shortlisted applicants are called for a personal interview at which eligibility is assessed. The selection committee’s decision is final.

Fee, Rebate & Refunds

Up to 20% for TIMS alumni, industry-sponsored and member-industry candidates. Rebates are applied by the office after eligibility verification, not self-declared.

The course fee and instalment schedule are confirmed by the Executive Officer at admission. Contact the institute office for the current figures.

  • Withdrawal before the session starts, where the institute fills the seat before the admission cut-off: full fee refunded less ₹1,000.
  • Withdrawal where the seat cannot be filled: no refund.
  • Permanent illness or disablement during the course (doctor’s certificate): full refund, subject to verification.
  • Death of a candidate during the course: full refund to parents or spouse.
